I am a Genie. To be more precise, I dress like one while granting wishes to people in need. I also produce inspirational events with people like Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, Marianne Williamson, Gabrielle Bernstein, or Jack Canfield. Granting hundreds of wishes around the world while rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest spiritual leaders of our time teaches you a lot about living a magical life. Lessons I feel compelled to share with you, now.

Your dream life

In this Dream Life Guide we’ll begin to understand how to live a wishes fulfilled life. Each lesson will explore one of life’s great illusions before going into practical tactics and tips needed for transcendence. If at any time you’re not clear or would like more information, please send me an email. I will respond to everyone as quickly as possible.  My email is joshua@iamgenie.org

The homeless experiment

I am also homeless. Well, I was until very recently.  Having now set up a home base in beautiful British Columbia. My past homelessness being much different than what most people visualize. On October 4, 2010, my partner, Ingrid, and I walked out of our comfortable life, jumped into a black Grand Prix, and began a journey into the unknown. Following our hearts.

Ask my kids where daddy lives and they’ll say “everywhere” without missing a beat. And in that regard they’re absolutely right. I had no fixed address, travelling to exciting destinations, constantly helping, shining a light where needed. Many people only see the gloss of this life and think it’s all happy faces and smooth sailing. It’s not. The truth is we’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this point. Changing the momentum of your life isn’t a cakewalk. It takes a lot of practice and effort to adjust your conditioned way of thinking. Courage is needed to trust your gut, especially when so many think you’re crazy for going against the grain. Doing things differently. If you’re interested in comfort, you might as well stop reading now.

Have we pushed the limits of our relationship, pocket book, and sanity to transform? Yes. We’ve taken buses to dream days with only $100 left to our names and slept on friends’ and families’ couches more times than I can count. Not to mention the friend and family support. I’ve quit more than once, only to change my mind the next day. Why? Something in me kept saying, “Don’t give up. Take one more step.” And, always, at the right time, something needed would appear. Imminent failures magically avoided at that last moment.

This beautiful journey all began with a wish granting driving tour from Montreal to Miami, Miami to LA, and LA to Vancouver—with about 40 stops in between. Soon after, we created I Am Genie, a wish granting organization, followed by an egotistical desire to bring peace on earth before settling into being content with inner peace. Reminding me now of Rumi’s quote, “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” Dream days soon became wish weeks and what we were doing began to attract the attention of some people involved in TV. Then came our events with spiritual leaders. We evolved. Happiness quickened by living moment to moment.

Has it made us stronger? Yes. Have we followed our dreams? Totally. Would I change a thing? Nope. Because everything we’ve done has led us here, to this connection. I give you this true story in hopes you find yours. I believe Oscar Wilde’s words, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” Let’s be rare together and remember Dr. Seuss’ advice: “Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.” Let’s begin making that smile of yours a little wider.

Why listen to advice from a previously homeless genie?

If your wish is escaping the rat race, travelling the world, being a super-hero, changing jobs, or simply being more content with your life as it is, these upcoming email lessons will help make it a reality—now, as opposed to a far off place in the future that only exists in your mind. A neverland that may never happen. Life doesn’t have to be so hard. It really doesn’t. Like looking for the gold at the end of the rainbow, you will find that the chase is an illusion. Everything you’ve ever needed, everything you’ve ever wanted, is within.
