Rocky movies make me cry. It doesn’t matter how many times I watch, the training and comeback scenes always bring a tear to my eye. Actually most predictable inspirational hero comeback stories have this control over me. Their unwillingness to give up in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges gets me every time.
Failure, for me, is not trying. Taking a pass on a dream. Not listening to your gut. Choosing safety above all else. Let’s face it, we’re not going to make it through this challenge without thinking or talking trash from time to time. Making it important to remember that our power isn’t in perfection. It’s in the innate resiliency we all have. A deep desire to live and experience life. An ability to get back up when we get knocked down.
Yesterday I noticed I stopped putting money in the jar when I talked negatively. Today, I recommit. Something we can all do. Don’t let yourself slip back into unconscious talk or action. Forget the past. Right now is all we’ve got. Today’s a new day. Get back up and enjoy the beautiful fight of life, like rocky.
