I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with some of the world’s greatest spiritual teachers and do you know what they have in common? They’re all human. They all make mistakes, they fail, struggling with their walk at times. Just like you and I. Just like all of us.
Make today a blank slate. Forget about the things you’ve screwed up. They’re already taking too much space in your head. Remember the dreams they’ve crowded out. You are infinitely awesome and pure. Remember that. We all screw up and always will. Accept it. Take your failures and learn from them. That’s what they are for. Don’t get too attached, because they aren’t who you are. No one reaches the top of the mountain. We just go deeper into ourselves, remembering who we truly are. And, there’s one thing I can guarantee, thinking you’re a “bad” person doesn’t help.
Right now, you might begin distancing yourself from the word “failure.” Instead remember Denis Waitley’s quote “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” You are everything you are today because of the challenges you have overcome. Rise up and go find a few more.
