The challenge a lot of us have with wish fulfillment is that we’re not clear on what our truest wishes even are. Believing other people’s dreams are our own. Getting rich, famous, powerful are all well and good but useless if they don’t bring peace, happiness and contentment.
The reality is your truest wishes and deepest desires are a creative expression of who you are. Meaning, your primary focus shouldn’t be on dream chasing but rather dream expression. This entails and intense, expanded focus on your inner or higher self. Something not everyone is comfortable with.
So, we fill up time with other people’s wishes, watching TV, working in jobs that aren’t for us, eating, etc., etc. to hide from ourselves.
Review any spiritual text and you’ll quickly notice one common theme.
- If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you. – Jesus Christ
- Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. – Buddha
You can’t find lasting happiness outside yourself in egotistical quests. And while some of these journey’s eventually point to the truth, they aren’t it. You are it. You are your wish. And like the pot at the end of the rainbow, you’ll never find it chasing another’s dream. Time to go within or go without.
It really is that simple.
